I was about to take a bite of my  sandwich in a diner in Washington, when the young guy stood right by our table. I did notice him earlier outside the diner on the street,  He talked to my husband and me.

“Excuse me?” I said,  asking him to repeat his question.

“Wanna buy some Marihuana?” He said.

“No thanks”, I said, half smiling.

The guy walked up to the man standing behind the disk.

Did we look like someone who wanted to buy Marihuana?
I saw myself wandering up to the guy and telling him that I didn’t need Marihuana. I had enough in Jesus. He is my life and daily bread. Then I would declare the gospel to him. This is how it sounded in my imagination. I remained at my seat as if was glued to my chair, and my mouth did nothing but eat.
At least I prayed for the Marihuana ‘salesman’.

Christ’s followers have enough in Jesus, because when they’ve met Jesus in one way or another and believe in him, he will quench their thirst.

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14)

What about me? Do I seek Jesus when I thirst? Do I seek him when I’m empty and seek comfort or answers?

Too many times, I’ve tried to alleviate, repress or sweeten difficult feelings with sweets, TV, Internet and social media. Those are not answers to my problems, Jesus is the answer. Only Jesus can quench my thirst.
Lord Jesus, I ask you to forgive me for having sought worldly and empty material things instead of seeking you. I ask you forgive me that I’ve been ashamed and didn’t dare come to you in difficult times. Forgive me when I’ve tried to hide something in the dark and lied to others and myself. Forgive my disbelief and my lack of trust in you. Lord Jesus, have mercy with me. May we all remember to seek you and surrender all to you. Amen

“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38)
