A journey in creativity and faith

He is near

Close to me
like a breeze
He breathes
whispering
embracing
giving lights
heats me
talks quietly
awakens me
He makes me alive

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalm 145:18)

Sun shining in heart

In Christ

The nun is fired
The princess and the sex monster are forgotten
The broken glass is gone
The veil for my eyes is removed
I have a new mirror
I see Christ in the mirror
I see myself
I see Mariane, woman
God’s beloved child
precious in my Father’s eyes
free and righteous in Christ
reconciled to God in Christ
a new creation in Christ
I see Mariane in Christ
the glory of the Lord
(5 Cor 5:17-21 and 2 Cor 3:16-19)

A sight

The wind squeezes
through the clouds
pushes the thin branches
pulls the garden door
Rain
I remember
a sight:
The sun is shining
on the glass
A sunbeam
on every raindrop
Pearls of shadows on the windowsill
Sunshine in my living room
Drops of grace
on my fingertips

4 Fantastic ways I was Reminded about God’s will

I kept seeing the same message. When a message is repeated to me in 4 amazing ways, I must take it seriously.

1. A devotional and illness

The first time I heard the message was in a devotional. A man told about his illnesses and his examinations on a hospital. His reaction to being sick was to be joyful, always praying and always giving thanks. He quoted 1 Thess 5:16-18  “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. While I was reading this, I had a time when I was sad and complaining about my life, and I was not able to pray to God for days. I didn’t think further about this verse.

 2. My husband and a broken wheelchair

A few days later my husband’s wheelchair was broken. Life became more complicated than usual. One night my husband and I went to bed, and he began to talk. It was as if he preached. He talked about all the good things in our life, all the things we should be grateful for.  I listened and said yes. I turned around and closed my eyes while thinking: Yes, but…I’m sad, I’m bored, I wish a lot of things were different, and that the wheelchair was not broken.

Bridge building

Eyes roll around
flicking back and forth
What should we do?
The builders labored in vain
They don’t see
The don’t hear
We’re islands

The earth burns
under the feet
disappears
we’ll soon fall down

Call his name
open your door
his death is your life
he is a bridge
a portal
he is the way out of here
